The Nevers Magny Cours circuit in France has staged day two of the seventh Supersport world championship round today. Yesterday’s two free practices were characterised by rain and ran on a very slippery track. MV Agusta Reparto Corse riders Raffaele De Rosa and Federico Fuligni finished in tenth and eighteenth place respectively, with Raffaele also suffering an innocuous crash. This morning the pair took part in the third free practice which, like yesterday, played out on a wet track. Fuligni (1’58”809) closed eleventh, while De Rosa (1’59”906) finished in fourteenth place. The combined practice standings saw De Rosa place eleventh, and Fuligni nineteenth. The seventh Superpole of the season took place in the late morning on a wet track that was slowly drying out. De Rosa (1’50”577) obtained an excellent fifth-place finish, while Fuligni closed in twenty-first place. The results achieved during Superpole meant that De Rosa lined up on the second row and Fuligni from the seventh for the afternoon’s race that ran in pouring rain. De Rosa made a strong start and was able to hold his starting position. In heavy rain and on a slippery track, Raffaele made no mistakes and was fighting as part of the chasing group. Four laps from the end he moved up into fourth place, a position he held until the final lap when a crash forced Race Direction to bring out the chequered flag ahead of time. Fuligni put in a solid performance. Having got away from row seven, Federico began to make up places, the difficult track conditions doing nothing to put him off. Eighteenth at the end of lap one, Fuligni maintained a strong pace and was up into eleventh by the mid-race point. Able to make up another three places in the latter stages, he crossed the line in eighth place. In the Supersport championship standings, De Rosa lies fifth with 119 points while Fuligni is sixteenth with 29. Tomorrow the two MV Agusta Reparto Corse riders will take part in the thirteenth race of the 2020 Supersport world championship.

Raffaele De Rosa: “A good race. With a lot of water on track, I wanted to take a few laps to find the right feeling with my bike. I found a good rhythm and considering how things went I think I scored the best result I could. In these difficult conditions, fourth place isn’t exactly a result to throw away. I want to thank my team for all their ongoing hard work as they make modifications to the bike that help me to be faster.”
Federico Fuligni: “At first I was struggling, also because visibility wasn’t great with all the water. I had to slow down to avoid crashing, but then over subsequent laps I started to find good feeling with the bike, adapted to the difficult conditions and picked up my pace. I reached and passed many of the riders ahead of me and climbed to eighth place overall. I’m still disappointed that we started so far back, but we can be pleased with what we’ve done today and we’ll try to do even better in tomorrow’s race.”
